Gmail why is my inbox empty

No idea how to retrieve. Rick's Computer Services is an IT service provider. Tried multiple browsers and multiple mail clients on a couple of computers.

It's consistent. The email clients download unread messages and lots of read messages to the inbox. Through the browser there are only a handful - messages that have come in since the move. Much of it has the "Inbox" label. The inbox as I was viewing it before had 13 messages and ended last night. The All Mail label picks up where that left off, and has it all of course.

Off to read up on the All Mail button I think I've got it figured out. Looks like when I selected everything in the inbox I was only selecting the regular messages and not the ones under the Social and Promotions tabs. When I remove those tabs I have unread messages in the inbox on the web interface which is pretty damned close to the I see as unread in the mail client's interface. Follow up to this. Another issue this customer was having was that messages from some senders, mostly friends and family members, we're "not coming in".

I could find them in All Mail through the Gmail web interface without an Inbox tag on them. Filters place matched messages in your folders, so a message that has been filtered will not show up in your inbox but will still be in your Gmail system.

You can set up forwarding on your Gmail account to forward your emails to a different email account. If you use a POP client such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird to download your emails from Gmail and save them on another system such as your local computer, your POP client could be deleting copies of your downloaded emails.

Your emails can go missing from your Gmail inbox for more than one reason, especially if you use multiple POP clients to download your emails. Gissimee Doe has been writing for over 11 years on a range of subjects and interests.
